Trainspotter

Trainspotter, York Railway Museum

I’m no trainspotter. I find it quite hard to get excited about trains. I spent my fair share of time on them, as a young man, but I can’t say that I remember any trips with fondness. Only a couple of years ago, I was threatened by a psychopathic businessman on one, whilst travelling on the East Coast line to London.

I took this photo in York Railway Museum. As an engineer, I find these machines interesting, but not nostalgic, as most of these engines were retired before I started using trains. They are certainly attractive and impressive, and if only for that reason alone, it’s good to see them preserved.
