I find it ironic that a ‘Device to Root Out Evil’ (Dennis Oppenheim, 1997) hasn’t been a welcome visitor on its travels. You’d think this sort of device would come in quite handy. After its unveiling in Venice, it was offered to (and rejected by) New York and Stanford University in the USA. The Americans found it too controversial or blasphemous or something. The Canadians were a bit more relaxed, and it was welcomed to Vancouver, at least for a while, until they also decided it was a bit much. It’s been living in Calgary since 2008. I’ll have to get back on you on the state of evil in that city.
