Fernie had 11.5 metres of snow this year (that’s about 38 feet). The weekend before I arrived, there had been a big avalanche in the Cedar Bowl, and they had closed it to visitors. It snowed several times during the week I was there too. One thing you soon notice about Canada is that they are understandably great at dealing with snow. Everywhere you go, there are huge piles of the stuff, which have probably been ploughed while you were comfortably asleep in your bed.
