Brixham lighthouse sits on the end of the harbour wall. It’s very white. It’s so white, it’s bound to be used in advertising for washing powder, face cleanser, or something like that. On a sunny day like this one, with a blue sky, it looks even whiter, in a blue sort of way.
I often wish that town planners looked at their work after going on holiday. Mediterranean holiday destinations, in particular, have a fantastic simplicity of design and colour which eludes most English towns. French roads are a pleasure to drive, without a myriad of signs and painted lines, and yet we insist on making our high streets look like a dog’s dinner.
