I visited the Lake District a lot as a child from Lancashire. I regularly camped near Windermere with the Girl Guides (don’t ask!). I’ve taken the family to Bassenthwaite Lake a couple of times. It’s more peaceful. It’s easy to take great photographs by the lake. Just be careful of the goats.
